From the moment she came onto the scene, she was large and in charge.

Barely up to your knee, she led us around UT Gardens for the better part of 45 minutes, acting as if she knew exactly where every flower and ever plant was. We explored them all. She picked a few, she played with a few and she talked about them all.

All the while clutching a sugar cookie as if her life depended on it.

In case you haven’t figured it out, Lilly, the granddaughter of our friend RenĂ©, has personality oozing out of her ears. She was just a hoot to shoot during our mini-sessions a couple of weeks ago at UT Gardens. There’s not a shy bone in her body, and I’m pretty sure she developed a crush on our son Grant. But with Lilly that just meant that she made sure that Grant was right behind her wherever she went.

RenĂ© had wanted to get some posed shots of Lilly because, in her words, “All we can ever get is candids. She won’t still still for anything else.” And we managed to get a couple of decent posed ones. But to be quite honest, the better shots came when we just let Lilly do her thing and tried to keep up.

Normally we don’t post this many shots from a shoot, but in this case it was worth making an exception. We think you’ll agree.
